 I grew up playing soccer competitively for over 20 years, from club and high school to college. While I've always enjoyed other sports, I never had the time or permission to enroll in them—Asian parents, if you know, you know. Once my playing career was over, I was tired of being the “small friend” and found a need for a competitive outlet, which led me to fitness.

My journey into fitness began with finding training partners who seemed to know what they were doing, reading countless T-Nation articles, watching YouTube videos, and lots of trial and error. I fell in love with fitness. As I started to find bro-lifting monotonous and running its course, a co-worker suggested CrossFit. I was hooked after getting my ass handed to me in that first metcon.

While coaching was never the plan, life took me in that direction. I was offered a group fitness instructor position that I couldn’t pass up. From there, life had a domino effect, and I ended up finding my way to Stay Strong through some friends and made it my home—literally. Next thing you know, from sleeping in my car so I could CrossFit between coaching, I wanted to pursue my new passion for coaching with those very same people. Working towards health, pushing the boundaries of fitness—it seemed like a perfect fit.

Eight plus years later, here we are. Still learning, still growing!
